My fundamental goal as a teacher is to encourage students to develop new perspectives and tools for inquiry that enable them to become active participants in both science and society.  I truly believe that this sort of experiential education can transform the world by encouraging students to become agents of positive change.

Our lab conducts research on basic and applied problems in the watershed sciences. In particular, we study the linkages among physical and biological components of watershed systems.
